EquiStat, the most comprehensive and complete database in the Western performance horse industry, seeks a highly motivated strategist to join our team. The right person is detail-oriented with strong, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as a passion and deep knowledge of the Western performance disciplines.
Position Summary:
The EquiStat Strategist will work directly with the managing director on a content marketing plan to increase awareness of the EquiStat database, integrate a communication plan for obtaining show results and work with industry partners to develop additional partnerships and opportunities to grow report revenue. This person also oversees the editorial production and content for EquiStat social media and email channels and serves as an ambassador of the brand at industry events. Remote or hybrid work is not an option with this position.
Essential Function, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a multi-discipline content marketing plan geared towards promoting the power of the EquiStat database with a focus on audience development and revenue growth
- Collect, analyze and summarize KPIs from events, partnerships and in-house campaign initiatives in order to concept, develop and execute on ideas that continue to innovate the EquiStat brand and grow reporting revenue
- Pull reports from the database for promotional use as well as in concert with sister brands such as Barrel Horse News and Quarter Horse News
- Create and manage key partnerships with outside industry professionals, events and associations
- Propose, write and photograph content for use across EquiStat digital platforms that relate directly to the database including but not limited to social media posts, website content, press releases and marketing materials
- Coordinate with freelancers, assigning, collecting and editing freelance content with top-level industry experts to generate EquiStat content
- Assist with the development and creation of marketing materials
- Maintain a list of events in each discipline to ensure all results are gathered for database entry
- Contact show producers for missing results or any missing information, as well as send out reminders to producers to send results pre- and post- event
- Assist customers over phone and email with ordering standard and/or custom reports as well as navigating any online ordering issues
- Format and manipulate excel spreadsheets to prepare show results for incorporation to the database as well as to oversee EquiStat data-entry interns
- Attend select industry events and network to bolster EquiStat’s relationship with major industry players
- Research and provide clarity on horse pedigrees and or owners, breeders or trainers to ensure accuracy
- Provide managing director and other statisticians with assistance during statistic issues and other peak times; requires being in office during standard hours and working extended hours as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or other Communications or business-related field or equivalent work experience
- Three to five years of professional experience in a fast-paced office environment implementing multi-media campaigns for national brands, media or agency experience preferred
- Highly motivated individual with a passion and strong connection to the Western industry
- Advanced knowledge in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate clearly with various departments including graphic design, editorial, digital and advertising, as well as vendors, contractors and partners
- Strong background and advanced knowledge of the Western performance disciplines of the equine industry (cutting, reining, barrel racing, western pleasure, etc.)
- Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing environment and work in close cooperation with other employees and other departments
- Adept at using Adobe software, project management tools and content management systems
- Experience with data entry, recordkeeping and filing.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, present, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and effectively speak and hear. The employee must occasionally lift vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
