AKQA Lead Developers manage a team of software developers and participate in the creation of sophisticated digital experiences and must have advanced understanding of frontend web development. They have a strong dedication to recent and upcoming technologies, as well as the drive to develop innovative technical solutions. As a Lead Developer at AKQA, you will work with a client-facing team of highly skilled people – each with strong opinions about various technologies, frameworks and approaches to delivery.

Please note: This is a 3-month freelance contract role. No visa transfers or visa sponsorships will be offered at this time. Candidates for this role must be able to work West Coast hours.

Role Requirements

  • Expertise in HTML, CSS/Sass and JavaScript
  • Expertise developing marketing emails for premium brands, using industry best practices
  • Perform code reviews and enforce coding standards
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers
  • Ability to provide strategic technical guidance, requirements and constraints for a team to evolve their work practices and be successful.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in email development and recommend process improvements
  • Troubleshoot rendering issues across email clients and provide solutions
  • Evolve internal tools, scripts, and automation solutions to optimize email development
  • Advanced knowledge of responsive web design
  • Collaborate closely with designers, developers, and marketing stakeholders to develop production emails campaigns
  • Ability to scope work, and provide accurate estimates
  • Experience with templates and task automation including NPM
  • Experience defining and managing version control software(git) strategies in multi-developer teams
  • Advanced knowledge of responsive web design
  • Experience developing accessible UI interfaces to WCAG 2.1 AA and higher.
  • Ability to provide line manager oversight and career guidance to a team of Mid and Sr level developers.
  • Experience implementing pixel perfect designs across a broad range of browsers and devices
  • Experience using version control software(git) in multi-developer team
  • Experience with Sketch and Photoshop
  • Experience with web development tools like xScope, PerfectPixel, and Xcode Simulator
  • Experience working with remote teams
  • Experience leading developers at an digital agency or brand digital marketing group

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • 8+ years’ experience working as a front-end developer / Advanced HTML Email developer
  • Enjoys leading teams solving unique Email and UI challenges
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience with web application development
  • Able to provide technical guidance, requirements and constraints for the team to be successful.
  • Thrives when facing new challenges in improving client deliverables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to interact professionally with a diverse group of people
  • Boundlessly creative and relentlessly attentive to detail

The pay range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.

$2,700 - $3,000 per week

Candidates for this role must be able to work West Coast hours (PST)
