Freelance Grant Writer - Pittsburgh Science Workshop Position Description Build grant writing capacity for a small nonprofit in a growth phase. Work with ED and board members to identify local and national grants that are a strong match. Write persuasive LOI’s, proposals, and applications for foundation, corporate, and city funding opportunities. The contractor will receive compensation upon completion of tasks, at intervals/contract phases throughout the project, per mutual agreement.

Part time, 3-6 months. Potential for contract period to be extended if grants are awarded for General Operating expenses or that include admin overhead Responsibilities Work with the ED to assess known funding opportunities and research new Foundation and Corporate grants.

Draft persuasive letters, proposals, and applications that display a thorough understanding of the organization’s mission, programs, impact, and funding priorities.

Complete drafts with sufficient time to be reviewed and submitted.

For grants that are awarded and completed during the contract period, draft and assemble acknowledgement letters and reports. Required 4+ years grant writing experience

Demonstrated success at securing grant awards, preferably for small nonprofits

Resonate with the Community Science Workshop mission and feel confident representing our organization Preferred Pittsburgh-based with experience writing for local funders

Professional connections to local and regional foundations or corporations

Grant writing experience or work experience with social justice oriented youth programs

A personal interest in high quality youth programs and/or science education

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
