Golden Peak Media is seeking an editor for Quilting Arts Magazine. As editor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the content and direction of each issue. You’re a fit if you are connected to the art quilting community through a personal or professional practice, and you’re passionate about creativity, community and media. This position reports to the editorial director for Quilting. Join a creative, energetic team as we inspire, educate, and connect with others who love art quilting as much as we do.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop editorial strategy for Quilting Arts magazine and associated platforms, working with a team to deliver compelling magazine issues, newsletters, video, web, and social media content
- Research and identify trends, topics, and stories that resonate with the Quilting Arts target audience
- Oversee content, assigning to staff and freelance writers, gathering images, writing, editing, proofreading
- Manage the editorial calendar and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
- Collaborate with the Creative design team to develop and produce each issue
- Use data analytics to contribute to editorial strategy and inform content decisions for audience engagement and growth
- Recruit, manage, and nurture relationships with a variety of contributors, including industry professionals and emerging artists
- Support content and program development for the Quilting Arts PBS television program
Qualifications:
- Experience writing, assigning, reporting, and editing for magazines and websites
- Knowledge of publishing processes, including editorial planning and mapping, advertising and production flow
- Experience building engagement via social channels and blogging
- Experience teaching or demonstrating quilting techniques or other crafts
- Familiarity with quilting industry trends and knowledge of the Art Quilting audience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, social platforms
- Strong copyediting and proofreading abilities; knowledge of AP Style
- Excellent judgment for fact checking, original reporting, and journalistic best practices
- Strong management skills of people and processes
- Experience in managing editorial budgets
Must-have qualifications
- At least 2 years of work experience do you have assigning and editing for magazines, or websites.
- At least 2 years of work experience do you have developing social strategies and content for a brand.
- At least 5 years of experience do you have managing a team of more than two people?
- At least 5 years of work experience do you have writing for magazines, newsletters, or websites?
- Colorado resident. Non-Colorado residents will not be considered for this position.

Salary $55,000 and higher, commensurate with experience.
