Web Manager + Developer
A local nonprofit is seeking a Web Manager and Developer to join the team on a 40-hour a week assignment for 6+ months.
This role is hybrid with M, Tu and Th as in-office days. The office is located off Hwy 610 and Woodway near the Galleria area.
The nonprofit has three websites that this person will support and maintain, ensuring all are up and running. If any of the sites go down, this person will be the one to take notice and work with the hosting company to resolve any issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Website Maintenance: Oversee daily operations of websites, ensuring fully functional, user-friendly, and updated with the latest content.
- App Maintenance: Updating, repairing, and modifying existing software with external vendor support as needed.
- Content Management: Create content as needed. Work with the Gateway to Hope team to upload, update, and organize text, images, and multimedia elements on the site.
- Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to website functionality, performance, and security.
- Site Optimization: Ensure the website is optimized for speed, performance, and mobile responsiveness.
- SEO & Analytics: Implement SEO best practices and tools to improve search engine rankings and monitor web traffic through tools like Google Analytics. Create relevant reporting to drive decision making and inform marketing plans.
- Security: Monitor the site for security vulnerabilities, implement updates and patches, and manage user permissions and access.
- Design & User Experience: Create designs to improve website layout, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) design.
- Backup & Recovery: Ensure regular back up the website and understand the disaster recovery plan in place in case of data loss.
- Compliance: Ensure the website complies with legal regulations, including privacy laws and accessibility standards (e.g., ADA, GDPR).
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on website performance, user behavior, and any potential issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Webmaster, Web Designer, Web Developer, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.).
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience with SEO tools and techniques (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, etc.).
- Web design experience especially using design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
- Experience with WooCommerce a plus
- Experience working with Learndash LMS a plus
- Knowledge of website hosting environments and FTP/SFTP protocols.
- Proficiency in website performance optimization tools and techniques (page load speed, mobile optimization, etc.).
- Experience with website security practices
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team
