Web Developer – Part-Time Consultant

Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is seeking a Part-Time Web Developer Consultant to support our civil aviation programs, working with the Airport Technology Research and Development (ATR) group.

This is a steady, long-term consulting position—perfect for someone looking to supplement existing consulting work with flexible, fully remote hours. The position involves maintaining and enhancing the ATR Branch web presence and supporting ongoing modernization efforts in alignment with FAA Web Services standards.

Position Details

Location: Fully Remote (U.S. only) Preference given to NJ/PA/NY/DE/MD/VA
Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 20 hours per week
Compensation: $45/hour (1099 contract)
Duration: Long-term, steady engagement

Responsibilities

Provide support for the continuous development and maintenance of the ATR Branch website: https://www.airporttech.tc.faa.gov/.
Ensure that all content is properly formatted and consistent with FAA Web Services requirements.
Keep ATR’s website current and accurate with new information on projects, research efforts, events, and deliverables.
Design and edit web pages, test site functionality, and develop plug-ins or scripts to enhance site performance and usability.
Select, process, and optimize images and graphics for publication on the site.
Provide editorial reviews of technical content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Manage web content, hosting, and registration, including template selection, theme definition, and site structure development.
Collaborate with ATR staff to implement design or functionality updates, troubleshoot issues, and test new features before deployment.
Support general web governance and accessibility compliance for public-facing FAA web pages.

Minimum Requirements

10+ years of web development experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field with 3+ years of web development experience (internship, part-time, or freelance work accepted).
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web design practices.
Experience with Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365 environments.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and written communication.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
